• Officers of and below the rank of SPs belonging to the Tamil Nadu Police Service and other sub-ordinate ranks in the sub-ordinate services of Tamil Nadu Police for their outstanding work in curtailing the illicit liquor.
• Total number of Medals awarded every year-5
• The members of service should have completed service for a period of not less than 5 years. Consideration being given to those with longer years of service.
• This Medal should be awarded only once in their service.
• Those who have been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service/ Police Medal for Meritorious Service, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Police Medal for Outstanding Devotion to Duty in a year are not eligible for the award of Gandhi Adigal Police Medal for the next 3 years.
• The award may also be made posthumously.
